Your reviewer once had to drive representatives of the Cuban Methodist revival from Gatwick Airport to a world Methodist evangelism conference at Cliff College in Derbyshire. Not speaking a word of Spanish, I did at least know by the end of the journey what "Gloria a Dios" meant. Thus to this CD, and I have gained no further Spanish vocabulary in the intervening years, apart from "Bernabeu" and "Camp Nou". I can understand why Integrity Music Latin would issue this 2009 recording in North America, but I am puzzled why it would come out here. With that reservation stated, I can tell you that the music is of an MOR pop style that you might expect on TV talent shows, but without the compulsory histrionics. A Spanish guitar features on the CD cover and a cello inside, and they point to the acoustic pop with orchestral backing and light "ethnic" touches. So far as I can tell, most of the lyrics are of a worship and devotion nature. Everything is in Spanish, including translated songs by Darrell Evans ("Trading My Sorrows") and Israel Houghton ("You Are Faithful") that feature in a rather bland medley. In summary, then, if you speak the lingo and you like female pop worship, you may enjoy this. For the rest of us, it is inessential.
