Reviewed by Graeme Crawford Featuring former members of Focussed and Ultimatum!, Jump Ship Quick are making old school punk and hardcore for the 21st century. Drawing on influences such as NOFX, The Crucified, Black Flag and Five Iron Frenzy, they are sharp, catchy and loud. The lyrics are also quite political and confrontational, covering subjects such as televangelists, abortion, people who refuse to work, Hollywood, violence and many more. However, they are also quite clear and open about their Christian beliefs and strive to display God's love through all that they have to say. They manage to capture a sense of power and rawness, while maintaining clarity and space in the sound, which is testament to the work of producer "Jeff The Girl" of Five Iron Frenzy and the mixing of Masaki Liu. Vocalist Harry is not a great singer by any means, but he fits the music, which is straightforward and unencumbered by needless showmanship. With 16 tracks of simple but passionate music, there is a certain amount of sameness about some of the tracks. However, if they can build on the strength of "He Must Increase", "My One True Hope" and the title track, then Thumper Punk Records may just have found themselves a star on the rise.
