Karen's debut album was launched at the Alive event in Suffolk this year. She plays piano and sings her own jazz/easy listening style melodies and worshipful lyrics. The first cut, "Thunder In The Distance", seems influenced by Psalm 8 with an added cry for environmental concerns. In fact, several of her songs are inspired by the Psalmist's awe of God and a David-like desire for personal purity and child-like relationship with his Father. Karen has a jazzy voice a little like Millicent Martin but her tone is gentler and more natural. I particularly like "Habakkuk's Song". Her backing musicians play with skill and sensitivity while the quality of her songs and honesty of her words make it an effecting listen.
