They look every bit like the sanctified Blues Brothers, complete with shades and pork pie hats, but Bo and Dabo Kazkill are pastors of a church in inner-city Nashville for whom the blues has become the natural genre to reach "those people that institutional religion has disenfranchised - people Jesus came to seek and to save," as their website explains. 'Dance Of Innocence' follows their 2005 release 'Code Blues' and continues in the same, sometimes a little rough, guitar-led blues style. Blues guitarist Gypsy Carns contributes some classic slide guitar on the opening track, "Let My Yes Be Yes" and several other Nashville musicians help the boyz to create a genuine southern blues feel with B3 organ, harp and some tasty vocals. A special credit goes to Brit Patrick Murphy from Plymouth who guests on "True Messiah Boogie" with a blues harp solo that any Nashville veteran would have been proud of! With tracks like "Am I Pleasing You?", "Jehovah Is The Only God" and "Will You Give Him Everything" you know subtle isn't going to be in it, and indeed the album finishes like its predecessor with a spoken Gospel message and appeal, but that's what the Kazkill brothers are all about: telling it like it is, in their own language and style. It's a formula that works so well, as this album shows.
