Originally in a singing group of siblings with his six sisters(!), Alabama-based Kenn Orr went solo at the turn of the millennium, and his debut release 'Get Ready' made its appearance two years later, in 2002. Orr has performed as opening act to the likes of Smokey Norful and Dottie Peoples, among other popular gospel acts. This, his second recording on his own KOOS Record label, is a thoughtful collection of mainly self-composed songs. It's a varied bunch, holding one's attention throughout - and set mainly in the soul and hip-hop genres, with hints of funk gracing numerous tracks. Orr has a fine, attractive voice and a confident musical approach. The instrumentation, too, is top rate - not least the infectious jazzy brass section. The cross and resurrection-based "He's Alive" is just one of several fine numbers, although this one draws to a close far too soon (total album length is 66 minutes however). The downside is that no song is a real knockout - and few really stay with you after the album has stopped playing. Nonetheless, on the whole, 'I'll B Tha One' is an inspiring and ear-pleasing set of well-crafted songs.

After reading your article above I really do agree with
everything that was said, wxcept for the comment about the
downside of the album. I feel that maybe not all songs will
stick with you, but one one will minister to you in some
type of way depending upon your ministerial needs. I feel
that Jesus You (1), Adopt Me (4) I'll B Tha One (7), and
Worship You (9), should make anyone want to be closer or
drawn nearer to God daily. Therefore you can't help but to
think about these songs after listening to the album.
