Britain's longest running Christian event has for decades been a treasure trove of expository preaching and teaching. Where it's lagged behind is in both the fervour and creative originality of its worship. This has long been recognised and as this series of albums (is it really 19?) demonstrates, the event has gradually moved from sedate renditions of ancient hymns to something that would be acceptable in the average Anglican charismatic church. Here worship leaders Sam Chaplin, Steve James and John Risbridger lead the throng through renditions of Gary Sadler's "Blessing And Honour", Brenton Brown's "Lord Reign In Me" and Tim Hughes' "Here I Am To Worship" though any regular worship CD buyer will easily name more interesting versions of the songs than these. So, predictably it's the ancient hymns ("Holy, Holy, Holy", "Crown Him With Many Crowns") where the congregation seem most enthused.
