'Biding My Time' is a particularly appropriate title as it's been 30 years since Essex-based carpenter and singer/songwriter Kev released an album. It was the loss of his wife to cancer that inspired the songsmith to record this album to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and MacMillan Cancer Support. Once briefly working with Vince Clarke of Depeche Mode and Erasure, it was Kev's short sojourn with Ears & Eyes Records which brought him a bit of profile in CCM. His return to the studio shows that he is an eclectic talent, taking in Eagles-styled country rock ("Cold As Winter") while elsewhere there are several Nilsson-styled ballads and a bit of punchy, full-on rock. The style jumping makes for a rather unfocussed album while the thin sound brought about by a limited budget restricts the album's appeal. But it's still good to welcome this musical journeyman back.
