Cross Rhythms recently published an article about this rapper and hip-hop radio presenter from Florida. Chav's fourth mini-album, this seven track offering sees him continuing to offer up the kind of assured faith-centred social commentary that he's become known for set to an inventive musical backdrop which simply oozes confidence and ingenuity. Such is the multi-layered nature of Chav's work, each listen brings out something new and subjects like chasing wealth and status ("Delusions Of Grandeur") and the tragedy and the mental health consequences of losing peers in "Faded Friends" are tackled with poignancy and skill. Throughout, Chav underpins everything with the hope that is found in Jesus and - especially on this release's closing track "On The Other Side"- he succeeds in communicating something of God's grace in a way that feels brand new. Cameos from the likes of Will@Large and Parris Chariz add further value whilst a vocal from Emorja Roberson at the end of "Off Ramp-One Way" is a surprise highlight. Definitely a release worth searching out.
