Cross Rhythms reviews are still playing catch up with the hugely talented singer/songwriter Kristyna who, as her supporters will know, was once signed to a major label and is now releasing her music through her own Take Note Recordings label. Released last year, 'Pinch Me Quick' has spawned two Cross Rhythms radio hits, "Three Little Words" and "I'm Not Going Back". It is a pop recording but has a very jazz R&B fusion sound especially the opener and laid back "Someone". The funky and up-tempo "You've Changed" has overtones of '60s Motown but with a grittier feel and tackles growing out of love with someone. In fact all of the tracks reflect some aspect of being in a relationship with poetic insight and astute observation. The album title comes from the breezy "Wouldn't Change A Thing" and another standout song is the Style Council cover "The Paris Match", slower and more haunting than the original with a dreamy trumpet solo. This is an excellently produced set of songs from a powerful and soulful singer and her next fan-funded 'Paint A Brighter Day' project promises to continue the quality work.
