Lamar Campbell with his choir Spirit Of Praise, formed in 1995, here deliver an energetic 10-track album centred on the love of God. 'From My Heart' is Lamar's seventh CD and is passionate and powerful. It was recorded live at Light Of The World Christian Church, Indianapolis. On the first choir-powered track "Let Everything That Hath Breath" Campbell exhorts the congregation to "praise him with a dance and sing for he deserves all the praise." Smoothly crafted track two "So Glad I Am Here" builds to a towering climax with Lamar's voice blending with the musicians to create a timeless, organic sound. Lamar is a challenge to worshipers as you clearly pick up his heart's desires to worship more. "Lord I owe you more, Lord I owe you more," he cries out on "I Owe You More", led by soloist Karen Williams. Lamar wrote eight of the songs on the album with Leon Lewis, music director on the album penning the other two. Michelle Boner, Oscar Banks and Carl Jackson on this set each deliver superb vocals. This Spirit-filled gospel album totally invades the worship realm. If there's a better gospel worship album released this year I'll be surprised.
