Very much a show case for Larnelle's gradual move away from a black gospel sound to the more languid musical waters of soft pop ballardry, this and the other volume is a pleasantly engaging compilation taken from nine different albums which shows off his impressive local talents. As Cross Rhythms has observed on many occasions, Larnelle's later recordings suffer from overblown 'inspirational' orchestrations, which are nothing special. If you want to get Larnelle's better recordings purchase Volume 1 only.

I have this cd which sports 12 songs throughout Larnelle's
career in ccm. Granted, this volume does not contain as
many popular radio tunes as maybe volume 1 perhaps. The
1985 top hit "How Excellent is Thy Name" begins the cd: I
also have a video clip of him singing this song on a Billy
Graham Crusade.
The 1983 superb duet with Sandi Patty "More than Wonderful"
hi lites this volume. "I Miss My Time with You" is one of
my all time favorites by Larnelle.
"Love Found a Way" which was also a radio favorite is
contained on this volume as well. Does anyone know if
Larnelle has released anything after 2005?
GOD Bless! -Don
