In the 1970s and 1990s it was a fairly safe bet that if you wanted to appreciate why Larry was held in such high regard his latest album or CD releases were a good place to start. In the 1980s however, attending a concert was probably the best way to hear Larry's music. The decade began with Larry introducing songs from 'Something New Under The Son' and some old spirituals into his set and ended with him playing some of the 'Home At Last' songs at his concerts. Somewhere along the way during the decade he would support Van Morrison and be backed by heavy metal band Leviticus and open for Stryper! The most interesting concerts of all probably came in the middle of the decade when Larry unleashed a new collection of songs (which would make up the great live 'Stop This Flight' album). 'On The Prowl' is a CD for fan club members only. details of how to join are available on the official website: www.larrynorman.com . This CD features selections from the widely bootlegged Biola concert in 1986. the American version of the Young Lions back Larry for a more raucous version of the 'Stop This Flight' setlist and also throw in a cover of Steve Scott's "Stranger" (listed here as "Two Roads") and an abrupt frenzied punk take on the classic "Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music" and a powerful and entertaining "Rock That Doesn't Roll" plus a few songs from Larry's solo guitar set are included. In a few places here and there Larry trips over the words but the band manage to just about keep him on track. The CD has been made from cleaning up a bootleg so the sound quality isn't great - a first generation soundboard would probably sound stunning though. Existing fans will enjoy this one regardless and with "anthology style" CDs of the 'Planet' and 'Garden' sessions also being released as fan club only ventures alongside some exclusive CD single releases big fans are recommended to check out the fan club for previously unheard music.
