Reviewed by Tom Lennie The title track - the only one sung in Welsh - refers to the rugged landscape of Snowdonia, "a place where you instantly feel at ease, your soul is at peace there". Such, too, is the feeling evoked by this collection of home-grown folk songs from Lindsay (Ridley), a Welsh-born teacher now living in Kidderminster. With pure, slightly Celtic-toned vocals that are somewhat reminiscent of Irish harpsist, Mary O'Hara, Lindsay leads us through a set of thoroughly non-cliched songs, all of which are directly spiritual in content. Several of these centre on Jesus and his sacrifice for us, notably the simple but charming "You Came". The occasional track - eg "Say a little Prayer" - sounds a tad simplistic, but then there's "Cries Of Justice", a heartfelt song of protest, and "Devoted", a beautifully original and moving number. With little in accompaniment other than her own guitar and piano, this singer adequately reveals her obvious musical gifting and love for the Lord. A fine CD to soak in a deep and powerful peace.
