Lindsey Kane, from Austin, Texas, was born to sing and write great melodies, that conclusion takes no time at all to arrive at, about 40 seconds into the title track "Satisfied". Songs like "Let Me Have You", expressing the Father's desire to commune with his creation, have the strong tone of the songs that graced the teen TV series Dawson's Creek. "Is there any mercy left for me?" Lindsay wraps her sinuous vocal chords around the storytelling of a man called "Mercy". I love the funky "I Don't Know", the voice of a questioning, confused soul trying to get to grips with the gritty issues of life. "The Valley" is a heart wrenching prayer amplified by a simple piano accompaniment. This music draws me into a depth where I find I can no longer be a passive listener but I kneel within the words of "Humble Me". It is no great surprise to me that this singer/songwriter won a radio station's songwriting competition and that she is in demand as a live performer. Surely this album is worth far more than the upbeat "It's OK" suggests and "What Were You Thinking" is the perfect opportunity for Lindsay to expose her ability to pen thought provoking lyrics, "What were you thinking when you rolled away the very stone you made?" Lindsay makes beautiful, relevant, contemporary music that sits up there with the likes of Kelly Clarkson with the extra element of revival for your spirit.
