Having carved out niche for themselves in terms of reinterpreting old African American spirituals as well as offering up quality new material, the output of Los Angeles-based gospel, blues and roots outfit Little Faith goes from strength to strength. Impressively, their third album sees the band employ the production services of former Whitney Houston musical director Michael Baker to add a certain polish to the overall Little Faith sound without taking them too far from their gospel blues roots. Baker in fact supplies the title track of this release - a song he originally wrote for Whitney to sing before her untimely death in 2012 - and, along with similarly emotive tracks such as the Sam Cooke epic "A Change Is Gonna Come" and the ode of thanks to God "Carry Me", both producer and band succeed in capturing an emotional depth that touches both heart and soul. With an ever-growing roster of musicians and singers, Little Faith have never sounded more cohesive with singers Nadia Christine Duggin and Ray Wolffe together with founder member and organ player Jack Maeby each generously ensuring that the sum is more than its parts by melding into the corporate sound as opposed to taking centrestage individually. An expertly-executed version of "Wade In The Water" and infectiously joyous numbers such as "All The People Shout" and "There Will Be Life" complete a hugely enjoyable release from a band that deserves much wider recognition.
