Lucy is a London-based singer/songwriter who has been composing worship songs for her own pleasure and meditation for a number of years. In 2014 she was encouraged to record some of these songs to provide "a message of authentic, heartfelt worship" for congregations. Each song has been well thought through and then carefully crafted. Breathy vocals clear as the sun on a frosty morning on the title track and "Atmospheres", supported only by her talented piano playing, providing an intense aural experience that draws the listener into the life of intimacy that Lucy wants everyone to share with God. Other tracks have a light touch to ensure the vocal and its message is the main event. "Fountain" begins gently as the acoustic guitar initially picks out the tune, then mounting gradually as slinky bass and sensitive drums slip into the mix, rising towards a splashing cymbal crescendo, as "'His name is Jesus" is proclaimed. Lucy's desire to bring people closer to God is clearly evident in all of her lyrics, supported by strong melodies and choruses with hooks worthy of the best fishermen. This is a positive debut.

I picked up Lucy's EP after a rousing set of worship in the Kingdom Come tent at Big Church Day Out and it hasn't left my car's CD player until today when it was replaced by Kari Jobe's "Majestic" album. Without over-complicating it in words, the quality of "Come And Breathe" is every bit as good, and the song "His Name is Jesus" is as heartfelt a prayer as I've ever heard. I'm already hoping to sort out the chords so I can teach it to my congregation.
