Anyone who read the swooning review of Luna Halo's 'New Drug EP' in this august publication will know that Luna Halo are a band returning to form. 'Wasting Away' shows that they have plenty in the tank. All the ingredients that make Luna Halo so special are here in abundance: thrusting riffs ("Bittersweet"), pulsating choruses aplenty, more hooks than a certain famous pirate (check out the tremendous title track which should be on radios everywhere soon if there's any justice), strong and inventive underpinning from the rhythm section of Aaron Jenkins and Chris Coleman (bass and drums respectively) and Nathan Barlowe's voice, one of the most distinctive in Christian music today. The production sheen provided by a bigger budget has helped Luna Halo make an abundantly appetising EP. Here's to the album, and their return to these shores for a couple of gigs in July.
