This is Maeve's fourth album, released in 2007, and contains 12 original songs by this Boston trio. Their rich and mesmerising harmonies are back, interweaving and entwining like a princess's plait. They work so well together that you long for the solo verses to end, the synergy is so great: three is more than just 1+1+1! This set kicks off with "Fill This House", with a sound reminding UK listeners of KT Tunstall. Others may be reminded of Sixpence None The Richer. The strummed acoustic guitar, the sliding and gentle picking of the electric guitar and the less-is-more rhythm section all add to the laid back country vibe while the liveliness of the vocals and catchy melodies add the pop element. There is a strong ministry focus too, with songs such as "If You Are Willing" which is a serene prayer for healing, and "Heavy On" telling about the burden-lifting shoulders of Jesus. And there are also heart-melting moments of worship, with "Be Still And Know" and "Know The Lord". Maeve have a captivating sound with a soul-lifting message. Even if you're not generally into their chosen style of music, it seems impossible to not like them.
