If you're searching for a perfect acoustic pop sound topped with stunning harmonies and creative ideas then Courtney Reid, Rachel Taylor and the wonderfully named Rollyn Zoubeck are the women for you! I discovered Maeve, who hail from the east coast of the USA, because the producer of this album sent me a copy. Having Waterdeep's Don Chaffer produce the project only made me want to listen to it even more. This project was released in 2006 and since then Maeve have recorded with another fine producer, Charlie Peacock. But this album should not be overlooked. Being late to the Maeve party I am now an avid fan and can't understand why this trio haven't been signed to a label yet. Mixing gorgeous soulful vocals with fabulous understated arrangements, the music here really works. From the more upbeat poppy "Found A Love" to the reworking of "This Little Light Of Mine" which opens the set, Maeve have an assured touch as they create their music. "Fire In My Soul" has a sultry soulful gospel feel to the vocal whilst their haunting version of "Be Thou My Vision" gives the hymn a new melody. 'Whatever Befall' was, for me, a great introduction to Maeve's beautifully crafted music.
