Reviewed by Maxine Cummings After spending many years as lead singer with Clannad, the enormously popular Irish folk music family group, Maire released a solo gospel album. Now, following a second solo release, Maire has written an autobiography, tracing the origins of Clannad and her own, spiritual journey. Although, I when I spoke to her, she said that she didn't set out to wash I her dirty laundry in public, there are some surprising revelations in the book, for example, her secret abortion, her second pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage and her promiscuous lifestyle. The singer movingly tells of how, when her "world finally fell apart" after her miscarriage, she found a book whilst looking for some more handkerchiefs. It had been her grandmother's prayer book, which Maire had been carrying with her on all the Clannad tours. It was then that Maire called out to God for help. She tells that her life wasn't made suddenly better, but that things slowly began to improve for her. With the help of Angela Little, Maire has written a book which was clearly a labour of love and gives God the glory for what he can do in a person's life.
