I didn't think I was going to like this disc. One glance at the cover told me it was going to be California meets Celtic. And it did prove to be West coast Celtic. But principle composer, arranger and producer, John Andrew Schreiner has done a superb job. This is one excellent album. The variety of forms, from plainsong to folk, the different voices used according to the style of each piece, the carefully chosen words and music all relating in different ways to our communion with God, all point to a master of his craft who is not only supremely gifted, but is also prepared to plan carefully and work hard as well. A potent mix. There are 17 tracks in all, some traditional, some original compositions, but all beautifully arranged and performed. If you like worshipful, meditative music with a bit of creative thought behind it, this is for you.
