After the paeans of praise heaped upon "Come As You Are' in CR37 (pick of the pile, no less!), this one sees Maranatha back on more familiar territory, namely, medleys of old hymns and modern worship songs with a small vocal group, guitars and keyboards and an (unnamed) orchestra that I assume is real people playing real instruments (at least, it sounds like it). The material is drawn from a wide slice of hymnody. everything from Isaac Watts, Charles Wesley and Henry Francis Lyte to Bullock, Kendrick, Falson et al. In fact. Geoff Bullock has three pieces included here and "Power Of Your Love" is given a good strong treatment, thankfully! Sadly, some of the segues are decidedly iffy, plus some of the medley groupings don't really go together: f'rinstance, "Power Of Your Love" is followed by "My Saviour's Love" and "O The Deep Deep Love of Jesus". I can see why they were linked (a love medley?) but the songs just don't gel together. However, most of the medleys work quite well and they do provide some good hospital radio material, so 1 shall be using this along with Vol 4, which got eight squares back in issue 20. The quality of this product is as good as ever. 1 just hope they're not scraping the barrel when it comes to ideas for medleys
