Margaret Rizza is not a trained composer, but her life's work in operatic and choral singing, and then vocal coaching, has stood her in good stead. This is a collection of themes from her previous works, re-interpreted as instrumental pieces to accompany prayer, contemplative worship or meditation. The instruments are simple – strings and woodwind mostly – but her natural instinct for melody produces a calm, seamless thread for the ear to follow. Soothing, but not at all dull.
