Now this is special. I was bowled over when I first heard Marrila's recordings recently and would have killed (well, frowned) to get hold of this new one. I suppose it's partly down to her roots, born in Ireland and evidencing the quiet fire and blazing heart so prevalent in much Celtic music. Her involvement with Catholicism (the renewed variety) has carried a sense of discipline, reverence and genuine awe often missing in "spiritual hippy, take-me-higher-quicker" feelgood circles. Of course, full credit to the voice, as glorious an instrument of praise as I've heard. Old faves like "As The Deer" and "Father We Love You" are struck by lightning! Some superb, unfamiliar songs from USA charismatic Catholic sources, pleased to hear the traditional "How Can I Keep From Singing" sung so beautifully. Marrila's long-time band serves her as well as ever. Can we have an album of '93 poll, so I can vote for this, please.
