This set of songs was the third album by the late great rock pioneer originally released in 1980 and recorded for a Dutch record label. In retrospect, Mark seems unclear whether he wants to rock out or create something mellow and acoustic so he does both with a little help from fellow Solid Rock alumni Tom Howard, Jon Linn and Peter Johnson. So you get acoustic pop on "Well Worn Pages," "Nowadays," and a bit of folk and country on "Just the Same" and "Brown Eyed Sue." For me personally, I preferred it when the songsmith turned up the volume and chooses to rock as he does on the excellent "I'm In Chains", "Gimme Mine" and "Negative Charge". After its release Mark named his recording studios after this album and 'Fingerprint' feels more like a signpost than a destination, pointing towards what Heard would be capable of in the '80s.
