Mark and friends (in particular, UK studio maestro Martin Neil) have produced an engaging, classic worship album which abounds in the sounds and the culture of Hawaii, a place which Californian Mark has adopted as home. Mark's writing is solid throughout, in the style of prayers and psalms, one song in fact being an adaptation of The Lord's Prayer in the Hawaiian language. I thought that Mark had captured the style of fellow Californian Chris Lizotte on “How Can It Be?” and the title track but then I read in the sleevenotes that Chris actually does additional vocals on “How Can It Be?”. The fullness of sound on “Tuere” makes it not unlike a U2 track but a further check of the sleevenotes reveals that Bono and Co are not on the guest list. Mark dedicates a particular track, “When I Find You” to the suffering Karen people on the Burma/Thai border. If you get the chance along life's way to meet with Mark and friends in worship, please do. I hope that this happens at the Cross Rhythms festival again before too long. In the meantime, buy this album.
