Regarded as one of the leading cornet players of our time, Mark is in demand both home and abroad as soloist, teacher, conductor and adjudicator. This collection, celebrating his long association with the Foden's Band, is testament to his extraordinary instrumental ability. The opening "Glory To His Name" is an extended solo while the beautiful "Londonderry Air" and the challenging pieces "Whirlwind" all draw in the listener. There is also a simple piece "Fujiko" written by Andy Scott, the band's "composer in residence", which works well. Michael Fowles, who has been with the band since 2009, conducts here with customary precision. This is an outstanding and well deserved tribute to a highly skilled musician.
