Minnesota-based singer/songwriter Petz has been turning out independent releases for a few years now. 'Chained' features 10 songs. Petz commented, "Love, heartbreak and the challenge of the Spirit are what these songs are about." I enjoyed all these songs, but the strongest one is the title track, mostly because of Petz's attractive vocals with the rich bass sounds and the rough edge, sounding a bit like Johnny Cash. "Run, Ride, Leave" is rather from the same mould, telling us a story of how it all went wrong. It's easy to listen to these tracks with their universally relevant lyrics, accessible tunes and very tight small group backing. About half the tracks are about faith though personally I preferred the more mainstream songs, maybe because he exploits his lower vocal range on those.
