Released last year via download and on CD and this year on vinyl, this is a pivotal album for the modern worship maestro, Matt having taken the bold step to relocate to the USA. 'Lamb Of God' stands as a testament to his journey through life's trials and his unwavering faith in God. From a childhood marked by the tragic loss of his father to suicide and the subsequent turbulence in his family life, Redman has used his experiences to fuel his music. His work resonates deeply with those facing their own struggles, providing a source of comfort and hope. The album, recorded live in the historic Mission in San Juan Capistrano, brings a unique and immersive experience to listeners. The setting adds a rich, almost biblical atmosphere to the music, enhancing the spiritual depth of the compositions. Redman's focus on themes such as the cross, grace and unconditional love is evident throughout, with songs like "The Praise Is Yours" and "Son Of Suffering" standing out for their emotional and lyrical intensity. Songs like "You Never Let Go" and "Blessed Be Your Name" were written during some of the hardest times in Redman's life, including his wife Beth's miscarriages. These experiences have shaped his music, allowing him to create songs that not only reflect his faith but also provide solace to others in similar situations. Redman's dedication to worship is clear in his approach to song writing. He aims to create music that helps people see God and sing to Him, emphasizing the importance of reverence and holiness in worship. Overall, 'Lamb Of God' is a powerful album, maybe not one of his classics but a set which blends beautiful, immersive music with profound spiritual themes.
