The long, proud history of black gospel music is one of GREAT voices, and Mr Williams is definitely no slouch. In fact, he has the kind of rich, vibrant vocal chords that would make your average pop gospeller seriously consider looking for a change of career. He also has the kind of intuitively arresting ability with a spoken introduction so that on the "Step Out On Faith" he recalls that great R&B star-turned-reverend Solomon Burke. After such a truly breathtaking slow soul ballad as this one, which would turn any connoisseur of deep soul into quivery apoplexy there's almost bound to be a let down, but there are so many great examples of a brilliant singer able to wrench every last piece of emotion out of songs that defy the depressing obsession with cheap sex of much secular R&B preferring instead lyrics of transcendent love of God. Soul deep.
