Noted for his accomplished guitar playing, Bill Menchen has been involved in Christian rock music since the mid '80s. This release is a follow up to the well received 2008 outing, 'Red Rock', where he gathered together a group of talented musicians to support the project. With this set of 12 tracks, both Ken Redding (His Witness) on vocals and Robert Sweet (Stryper) remain as support with Bruce Menchen joining on bass. From the outset solid rock credentials are on display. Crisp production and layered harmonies give the package a polished and professional feel. Robert Sweet's rhythm section adds an extra dynamic to Menchen's impressive soloing. The strongest tracks all feature this quartet driving the music forward with memorable groove phrases and sing along choruses such as "Master Of Destiny" and "You're Not Alone". Ken Redding's voice has depth and smoothness, but also displays an edge when opening up his tubes to soar powerfully in the more energetic sections. He only sounds out of sorts when delivering the rap styled "King Or Liar". This is a quality package, with only one significant drawback. These tracks were all recorded previously and have a dated feel about them. This however does not take away from what is some solid songwriting and fans of the likes of Whitesnake and Stryper will love this collection.
