Superlative new country from a fine artist who stylistically falls somewhere between Glen Campbell and Hal Ketchum. I've noticed that several country import specialists are stocking James, a clear sign of a classy performer as his songs are clearly Christian based. Much of the music's in the frontline of contemporary country sounds, the sweet sound of maestro Paul Franklin's steel guitar is well to the fore, as is Brent Rowan's great guitar work. Familiar names include Michael Omartian, Gary Chapman, Susan Ashton and Amy Grant. This is a stronger set than James' last outing, he's particularly effective on country/pop ballads such as Skip Ewing's "It Wasn't His Child". A gem of an album, go buy it.
