'Cornubia' is an electronic album that owes more to Tavener. Elgar and Bob Godfrey than to the likes of Tangerine Dream. This is a very mature album that shows that Michael has really grown since his previous release Trust" (which was also rather good). 'Cornubia' is inspired by John Miller's magnificent painting of the same name and "Cornwall's spiritual beauty". All of the pieces of music have an air of majesty that is often associated with modern English composers. Of all the tracks. "Land Of The Saints" stands out, it's simply quite Stunning, very powerful stuff. The "orchestration" is understated with no twiddly bits but it is just right, the lone colours enhance the music without becoming pre-eminent. I must single out the bass "string" sound used on "land Of The Saints", definitely a wow. A great album, buy it if you like good modern music.
