The first single (including two remixes) from this award winning London-based rapping and singing duo. The original mix is the most laid back, with simple piano samples and slow moving bass line, highlighting the rhymes and vocals. Some comparison could be made to London grime artists such as Dizzee Rascal and Wiley, while the smooth vocals and harmonies remind of Craig David. It's an infectious integration, though I wonder how such up to date music can acceptably mix with such an ancient phrase as "seek ye first". Church goers wouldn't think twice about hearing it, but the song is about young people on the street needing Jesus. Would such kids comprehend? The level of skill, attitude and integrity shown by the duo should certainly hold their attention anyway. The "5AM" remix is a little harder sounding, with stronger bass and more pronounced rapping, still extremely catchy. Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. The third and final "Baseline remix" is a fair bit faster, with sped-up (and chipmunked) vocals and the craziest bass line that pops, bubbles and splats like an out of control chemistry experiment. It's awesome, but totally distracts from the meaningful lyrics. Whatever, I can hardly wait for the album.
