Cross Rhythms were first sent this album many months back and were on the point of reviewing it when we were told that the whole project was being delayed so it could be remixed. As it turns out, Nashville stalwarts, guitarist Jerry McPherson, keys man Blair Masters and bassist Matt Pierson have been brought in to give the tracks a gutsier power rock sound and indeed the effect is more dynamic then the rather ethereal original version. Miriam is, of course, the singer/songwriter best known for her work with Hillsong Australia and indeed there's a duet here with Darlene Zschech, the rather dated sounding ballad "Loving Kindness". Miriam has a strong, strident voice and the souped up arrangements are suitably punchy for today's pop rock worshippers. Having said that, it has to be said that "Made Me Glad", first heard on the 'Blessed' Hillsong album, is a far better song than anything else on this set. So we're still waiting to see whether Miriam can compose other worship anthems of the same calibre.
