The first play of the tape immediately revealed a considerable shift in direction from the band's previous output. The team play left-of-centre hard rock. There are dashes of 70s heavy rock riffs, Kings X/Galactic Cowboys bass lines, Nirvana, psychedelia and even some mellow stuff. The overall melange could loosely be described as grunge, so you could categorise it as alternative rock just as easily and it would probably appeal to fans of either genre. Although the album is fairly good, the let down is in the vocal department which revert to a flattish industrial-style monotone at times and makes one wish for a vocalist of the calibre of King's X man Doug Pinnick or Ed Roland from Collective Soul. If the above mix appeals to you then I thoroughly recommend you try whatever King's X you can find (especially 'Gretchen Goes To Nebraska' and 'Out Of The Silent Planet') or 'Collective Soul', but if you don't fancy venturing into a secular record shop then do give this a try.
