An impressive production from Jez Coad puts a sheen on the album you don't often find on British grassroots evangelistic rock band recordings. The clear standout is a joyful revival of the Donna Summer/Altar Boys anthem "Unconditional Love" and a gutsy "Hammer" shining light on social injustice written, as are most of the songs on 'Shout!', by the band's gritty-voiced lead singer Paul Loader. Not all the material here is of the highest quality, but the band's infectious energy and lots of axe attack from Matt Simms keep you listening. A kind of rocked-up pseudo Negro spiritual "He Died For Me" is fun. British musicianaries like this Bristol bunch are honest journeymen we need to support.
