This is an excellent pop rock set from a Nashville newcomer. He says the songs on the album are a reflection on his own struggles of growing up knowing that he was adopted and that of trying to find his true identity. This is apparent from the very first song "Spotlight" which is quite a catchy number and could go on to become a hit, along with the other single on the album, "You Still Know My Name". The last track which is a tribute song co-written by Nate and his brother Dan thanking their birth mothers for having the strength and love to give them up for adoption. This is an extremely honest and deeply personal album with memorable lyrics. For example, on "Against The Wall" there's the brave verse: "I'm numb and I'm cold/In my insecurities/I'm fake and I'm bold/In my insensitivities/I know I've run from You/And I'm sorry/Accept this broken soul/And my apology"; then there's the catchy hook-driven line in "Everytime": "Everytime I hang by a thread/You're there to save me/You're the hand that keeps reaching. ." Overall, this is a quality album debut of punchy pop rock with lyrics that go much deeper than most albums of a similar radio friendly sound.
