Tasker was already a successful Christian songwriter and recording artist when he left his native Australia and moved to America in 2006, settling in Nashville. This 11 track offering is the result of collaboration with some well known music city production talent, but while that itself cannot do any harm it is Tasker's gift for insight, story-telling, melodic simplicity and sharp lyrical lines that steals the show here. Each track explores the idea of 'home' from a different perspective and frequently juxtaposes the notion of our permanent and glorious eternal one with the temporary and often unsatisfactory nature of our earthly one; in his own words, "Each of the songs deal with the idea that this life is fleeting and short compared to what is to come." The music is guitar-based in the main (mixture of acoustic and electric) supported by big keyboard and percussion sounds as required. All songs (except the title track, interestingly) are by Tasker, and his voice dominates the singing (there is understated use of backing vocals). The result is an end-to-end listen that is excellent and very rewarding, with variety and development and the sense of a gentle and gradual un-picking of the subject matter. The offering is without any weak tracks and leaves you wanting more.
