Like its predecessor, 'One' is a concept album, this time kept to a single disc. And like 'Testimony' it is very strong in its Christian message. It's a courageous thing to release stuff like this on a secular record label. This is not preaching to the converted! The album starts with "The Creation", God and man in the garden, and man's fall - familiar themes to most I guess. It ends in glorious celebration with "Reunion". In between the story of God's plan of salvation is told beautifully. Musically, it's very much in the progressive rock mould. Two songs here are around 18 minutes each. In parts the work is much heavier than 'Testimony' but still includes the beautiful ballads, in this case "Cradle To The Grave" (dueting with Phil Keaggy) and "Father Of Forgiveness". It's rock, it's symphonic. It's wonderful. This man must be kept secret no longer.With the Special Edition release, the bonus CD includes a further duet with Keaggy and an excellent cover of "Where the Streets Have No Name". Worth paying a little extra. There's only one rating for this, rock fans. It has to be.
