Opening with the anthemic title track, South Carolina's Rinehart brothers and their band have produced a collection of songs that are likely to excite staunch Southern rock followers plus gain them a whole host of new fans. This is mature, well produced rock that continues to build on the band's previous two releases. Harmonica and piano blend seamlessly with a background of roots rock, perfectly complementing Bear Rinehart's hauntingly distinctive vocals. There are no weak links in what is a varied and exciting listen. There are stadium rock tracks such as "Prisoner", which would not sound out of place on a Kings Of Leon set list, along with quieter love songs full of emotional phrasing and honest lyrics. However, my favourite, "Girl Named Tennessee", has been constantly on repeat on our stereo and is full of fun with its honky-tonk piano, off beat clapping, hoots and yelps. Fans of Third Day will recognise some rock influences, but Needtobreathe are no copycat outfit. In 'The Outsiders' they have crafted an excellent collection of tracks that wrestle with issues of faith and doubt in an honest and accessible way.
