After plenty of CCM profile back in the 80s the Welsh pop gospeller slipped from view. An attempt to establish Nia Jones in the US failed (at least as far as the Nashville big time is concerned) though apparently she still hops across the pond to gig quite regularly. This, Nia's latest album, has its moments, like a pleasing "Teach Me Your Ways" (a song the singer recorded on her 1986 debut) but too many of the songs are similarly tempo'd and Nia's phrasing is at times cloyingly theatric. Something's also amiss in some of the mixes with the normally reliable producer Mai Pope putting the singer too high against the backing tracks. Sounds like a case of a manager in the studio putting in his six penneth.
