Reviewed by Trevor Kirk Over the past few years, the UK's busiest female Christian singer has tended to release her albums in pairs, one being generally poppy and contemporary, the other more easy listening praise and worship. So, as a companion to her new CD 'Small Things', Nia gives us 'All About . Jesus', a 12-track mix of worship material new and old. The hymns "O The Deep Deep Love Of Jesus" and "Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace" sit alongside The Choir's "Beautiful Scandalous Night", Matt Redman's "Heart Of Worship", Brenton Brown's "Lord Reign In Me" and Twila Paris's "Lamb Of God", with songs from others such as Graham Kendrick, Gary Sadler and Darrell Evans. When I consider the original stuff she uses on her other albums, the appearance of so many cover versions is disappointing, but there are a couple of gems that are not so well known, notably "Nothing But Thy Blood", a 1999 composition from the Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory, that's already a big hit on UCB Inspirational. No quibbles about the production (Nigel Hopkins does an excellent job as usual), and the lady's voice is as ever spot on. I'd just like to see Nia put her stamp on some less well known material, or even write some herself. (8 squares)
