Manchester-born Nicola Monique Witter has had her fair share of nods from the awards ceremonies which seem to clog up the gospel scene diary. On this, Ni-Cola's latest project, she shows her unerring ability to fuse pop, reggae and soul and also manages to rap very well. Standouts include the praise and worship favourite "Better Is One Day" but with an '80s soul melody; the heavy bassline-driven "Still Not Gonna Bow" where the singer is joined by British reggae artist Gyamma; and "Try Again" which includes Ni-Cola rapping over a bouncy beat. In an era when many urban gospel artists are taking a stylistically similar approach, Ni-Cola's eclecticism makes for a refreshing listen.
