This is now the fifth Nitro Praise album in less than five years, with a sixth (live) compilation due by the end of 1998! The format of volume 5 is the by now familiar one of 'housing' up modern church choruses, though there are a couple of extra surprises this time around. The last vocal track is a slamming rave tune with JR Barbee (ex-Prodigal Sons) shouting praises to God, making the hairs on your back stand on end! There is also a rather nice spacious drum'n'bass version of "Awesome In This Place". Like volume 4, there is an "enhanced CD portion" to this product, containing an interesting but unremarkable video of the song "A Shield About Me". Other more familiar tunes to English church goers include rather nice versions of "Almighty, Most Holy God" and "No Other Name". Twila Paris' song "He Is Exalted" and Malcolm Du Plessis' "We Declare Your Majesty" are also given a house beat. They're fine if you like the songs in themselves, but as dance music they would empty a club quicker than a fire alarm! From a clubber's perspective it's a varied album, in style and credibility. From a worshipper's perspective, it brings to life familiar choruses, introduces new ones, and gives you a good chance to praise God with body and soul as well as with voice.
