No Limits are a seven piece band who describe their music as soul gospel and have gigged extensively in recent years. Their self-description is entirely accurate; the music lives at that crossroads where soul meets gospel and immediately heads back for soul again. It results in a distinctly middle-of-the-road feel, but it's quite tastefully done. Easy harmonies and acoustic guitar solos reminded me of Jonathan Butler, and the performance maintains a confidence throughout. The shortcoming of the album, however, is that only half of the eight songs are originals. It's a shame, because the four they have written are rather good. I'm of the opinion that a cover version should only be recorded if it somehow improves the original, and I'm afraid these don't (eg, Jessy Dixon's live version of "I Wanna Get To Know You" is difficult to improve upon). But it's an album worth checking out if my description of the style fits your musical tastes.
