Christmas albums tend to come in two formats in the Christian music market place. Either they are worship recordings or a well known artist feels the world needs another CD of over recorded carols. I am delighted to inform that North Point Church, a fellowship based in Atlanta, Georgia, have chosen to do things a little differently. Yes, there are well known carols here, but there are several completely original Christmas songs as well such as the opener "Do You Hear" performed by James David Carter, and the simply beautiful "Everything Changed" (sung by Eddie Kirkland) which is one of the best summaries of Christmas in song which I have come across. Even the evergreen carols have fresh arrangements such as the classical opening to "Joy To The World" (sung here by Seth Condrey). The album generates an atmosphere of peaceful reflection and clearly a respectable recording budget was committed to the project. One of the best Christmas albums I've heard for years.
