An ex-Broadway performer based in Florida offers her debut album and states that in many ways it is her personal testimony. So, in that sense it must be appreciated that her music is a very personal reflection on the transformation that Jesus has made in her life. However, my first impression was that the classically trained Odile's voice doesn't translate very well onto CD. That's not to say that she isn't vocally gifted, Odile's voice is very strong and powerful, lying somewhere between the sound of Whitney Houston and Celine Dion though without the class of either. On her performances here one can hear her natural power and theatricality. But in truth many of the songs sound somewhat overblown and in a style better suited to stage shows than through the vehicle of a CD. Odile certainly has a great passion and love for Jesus and I have no doubt her career in the music industry will go from strength to strength. Maybe she will write the next hit Bible-based musical?
