There is no doubting the incredible vocal and songwriting talents of Oleta Adams, from her discovery by Tears For Fears through her solo albums and now a gospel record. However this video does her no favours in terms of presenting the material from the recent gospel release. Recorded in front of an audience, we have Oleta miming to a number of songs with a little chat from the woman herself introducing the material and telling us about the people who worked on the album. There's a little studio footage, Oleta changes her frock regularly, a gospel choir appears and also mimes and there are plenty of those TOTP endings to songs as the applause cuts in while the backing track fades out and the camera zooms away. Oh dear, this is Dullsville proving what MTV have known for years - it's no longer enough to simply mime to your songs, no matter how many fancy camera angles you try! Buy the album, it's fabulous! But this video? Come doze off with me!
