'Reggae Hymns For All' is a must for all club deejays. Play any track from these albums at the end of the night and everyone will be running for the nearest exit. Reggae Hymns For All' does not live up to its name. Omay's objective in the production of this album is "to re-capture the rich memory of the old classic hymns, in a fresh and up-to-date arrangement." Yes, there are some classic hymns on these albums - 10 on each CD. Like "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross and "Blessed Assurance". As a matter of fact, 20 of my favourite hymns are included. Omay claims that it's "fresh and up-to-date," however I see no comparison to today's reggae albums. The music is bland and after a few seconds you want to switch off. Omay has a good voice, but needs to choose more contemporary songs and music. The album is co-produced by Omay and Georges Kouakou, with special guest musician Junior Marvin - former lead guitarist with Bob Marley And The Wailers and maker of a mainstream classic "Police And Thieves". But such discographic interest can't hide the fact this is bland reggae-hymns-by-numbers.
